Project Engineer

In addition to the above, each employee shall have duties specific to his or her position. Project Engineers will report to the Vice President of Construction and will generally be assigned the responsibility of assisting the Project Managers and Superintendents with multiple projects. This responsibility could include many aspects of the project including the cost, schedule, quality, and safety. More specifically, the Project Engineer’s position includes assisting with the following duties and responsibilities, either inside the office or out on the project site:

  1. Project estimating, take offs, bid review, coordination of subcontractors, planning and scheduling.
  2. Communicating with the subcontractors and suppliers for coordination of the project trades.
  3. Participate in the preparation of subcontracts and purchase orders to the vendors of Paul Hemmer Company.
  4. Communicate with the architectural and engineering services during the bidding, permitting and construction of the project for clarification of the design intent.
  5. Coordinate, file and track shop drawings and submittals
  6. Prepare the facility manual and closeout documents for turnover to the owner upon completion of the project.
  7. Inspect the work of each trade daily to ensure compliance to the project documents.
  8. Prepare daily reports, safety reports and other documents on the projects to track and monitor progress.
  9. Provide other support for the Project Manager or Superintendent as needed.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE

The person qualified for this position would also possess the following:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, construction management or compatible major.
  • Computer skills with software including proficiency in Word, Excel, Microsoft Project, Procore, Bluebeam, and other office programs.
  • Some familiarity with working on/around commercial and industrial projects.
