Paul Hemmer Company announces the retirement of Construction Division President John Curtin after 46 years

Fort Mitchell, KY — October 8, 2025 — Paul Hemmer Company today announced that John Curtin, President of Hemmer Construction Company, will retire effective December 31, 2025, concluding a 46-year career with the firm.

Over four decades, Curtin advanced through roles in leasing, property management, real estate, construction sales, client development, and executive leadership, culminating in his appointment to lead the construction division.

Curtin has been a cornerstone of Hemmer’s growth across the region, including major industrial and logistics projects across the Midwest. His industry leadership also extended to service as President of the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky in 2018 and prior board roles with the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky (now Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky).

“John’s career reflects our company’s values: show passion, emphasize teamwork, raise expectations, value people, and embrace growth,” said Paul W. Hemmer Jr., CEO. “His loyalty and steadfast friendship have enriched both our business and me personally. He has played a vital role in many of the region’s landmark projects and has been instrumental in shaping the next generation of our leaders. We are deeply grateful for his 46 years of service and wish him every happiness in retirement.”

“It’s been the honor of a lifetime to grow alongside our clients, partners, and this team,” Curtin said. “I’m proud of what we’ve built together and confident the company is positioned for continued growth and service to the region.”

Leadership Continuity:

Curtin will support a planned transition through year-end. The company’s construction division leadership team will continue to lead active projects and client engagements without interruption.

The announcement comes as Paul Hemmer Company advances toward its fourth generation of leadership. The 104-year-old company has built a strong pipeline of leadership to ensure long-term growth with the next wave of leaders — including John’s son, Matt Curtin, and others — taking on expanded responsibilities.
