Project Description

The Skilled Trades Center at Camp Friedlander is a new 10,000 square foot, year-round education facility designed to give Scouts and local youth hands-on exposure to high-demand skilled trades. The project is being delivered as a design-build effort for the Dan Beard Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The project includes the full design and construction of a steel-frame structure with an aesthetic exterior finish. Inside, the building will feature eight dedicated educational bays/classrooms, a central atrium for group interaction, indoor restrooms, and a durable concrete floor designed to support future enhancements such as a four-post automotive lift. Mechanical systems will include radiant floor heating or gas-forced air, along with air conditioning for the designated robotics and computer classrooms.

Notable Features:

  • (8) educational and training bays, each with overhead doors and dedicated millwork storage areas

  • (2) classrooms with polished concrete floors, drop ceilings, drywall, and air conditioning

  • Dedicated welding bay and automotive bay, each receiving specialized ventilation and layout considerations

  • Site improvements with storm drainage and utility upgrades

  • Central corridor and circulation space with polished concrete floors
