Project Summary

Paul Hemmer Company completed a comprehensive entrance and parking renovation at St. Xavier High School, located at 600 W. North Bend Road in Cincinnati. The project redesigned the school's primary vehicular entry off North Bend Road, creating a dramatically reconfigured drop-off loop, new parking field, storm drainage infrastructure, landscape improvements, and updated site lighting — all while maintaining operations at the existing school building.

Key Features

  • Redesigned main entrance off North Bend Road: A new curvilinear entry drive and roundabout-style drop-off loop replaced the previous entrance geometry, improving traffic flow and pedestrian safety for students, faculty, and visitors.
  • New parking field with striping and ADA compliance: The site plan introduced a fully striped parking lot with dedicated handicap-accessible spaces, accessible curb ramps, and painted directional markings per applicable code requirements.
  • Site lighting: New pole-mounted light fixtures (Type B1 and B2 pole bases and bollard bases) were installed throughout the parking and entry areas, complete with a distribution panel and circuiting shown on the electrical site plan.
  • Landscape and hardscape improvements: The landscape architect provided a grading and planting plan with tree removals, new plantings, and contour grading around the entry island and adjacent lawn areas to complement the new site geometry.
  • Multi-discipline coordination: The project required close coordination among the architect, civil engineer, mechanical/electrical consultant, landscape architect, and structural engineer — with Truman P. Young & Associates serving as structural engineer and PDT overseeing overall design.
