Paul Hemmer Company receives 2023 Goering Center Family and Private Business Award

CINCINNATI, Ohio — Sept. 11, 2023 — Paul Hemmer Company has been honored with an award from the University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business Goering Center for Family and Private Business.

The annual Goering Center awards event recognizes successful family and privately-owned businesses that are critical to the sustained vibrancy of Greater Cincinnati’s economy.

Since its founding in 1921 as John Hemmer Construction Company, Hemmer has been a fixture in the Greater Cincinnati Community.  From its beginnings as a home builder, Paul Hemmer Company has evolved into a business that operates in the commercial construction, real estate development, and facilities management sectors primarily in the states of Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana with over 100 combined employees.

“Our involvement with the Goering Center initially started at its formation in 1989,” said Paul W. Hemmer Jr., CEO of Paul Hemmer Company, “I had the pleasure of knowing John Goering, he was a friend of my family, a neighbor, and partner. More recently we have boosted our involvement with the Goering Center. We have initiated a Board of Advisors, engaged our next generation in crafting a BLUEPRINT for our future, and worked with their Leadership Development Institute. They are a great resource for our company and future leaders.”

The annual Goering Center Family and Private Business Awards showcase the unique successes of Greater Cincinnati’s family and private businesses that adapted best business practices while contributing to our economic and community growth.

This annual recognition program is in its 24th year and typically honors Cincinnati regional businesses that exemplify the best in family and private business practices. This year, the awards criteria focused specifically on each company’s successful difference and its impact on employees, clients, customers, vendors, and the community.

Paul Hemmer Company was evaluated by an independent panel of judges and was selected as one of only 10 honorees to receive this prestigious award.

There are an estimated 4,500 family and private businesses in the Cincinnati region, more than 400 of which are members of the Goering Center for Family and Private Business. However, membership to the Goering Center is not a prerequisite for the awards or for nomination, making this an even more powerful statement and achievement for Paul Hemmer Company.
