Project Delivery Method

Project Summary

Paul Hemmer Company served as General Contractor for a comprehensive renovation of the Children’s Home of Northern Kentucky Administration Building. The multi-floor project included extensive interior demolition, structural modifications, new vertical circulation, upgraded building systems, and exterior improvements, all delivered under a highly compressed schedule to meet an August 1 occupancy deadline. The scope required careful coordination across demolition, structural, elevator, MEP, interior finishes, and exterior trades. Major structural work included selective removal of existing floors and walls to construct a new elevator shaft and pit, along with reinforced CMU shaft walls and associated structural framing. The renovation also incorporated full system upgrades including electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety improvements to bring the building into compliance with current codes. A new 2,100-pound capacity ThyssenKrupp Endura hydraulic passenger elevator was installed to serve four levels, significantly improving accessibility and ADA compliance. The project also included new windows, upgraded finishes, acoustic ceilings, interior partitions, exterior concrete ramps and sidewalks, and a fully coordinated kitchen equipment installation. The result is a modernized administrative facility that better supports the Children’s Home’s mission while preserving operational continuity during construction.
