Project Summary
Paul Hemmer Company constructed a new single-story medical office building shell for St. Elizabeth Physicians in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. The project delivered a fully fire-suppressed, Type VB shell building totaling 10,330 square feet — including the primary clinical footprint, a covered entrance drive canopy, and a break room canopy. A separate interior improvement package completed the tenant fit-out with a full primary care clinic layout featuring exam rooms, lab, phlebotomy, patient check-in and check-out areas, provider offices, and staff support spaces.
Key Features
- New shell building for primary care clinic: Paul Hemmer delivered a complete shell structure ready for tenant fit-out, with all structural, exterior envelope, and building systems in place to support a full-service primary care medical practice.
- Covered entrance drive canopy: A dedicated patient drop-off canopy at the main entry provides covered access, with beam bearing at 112'-9½" and integrated gutters, downspouts, and wall pak lighting — an important amenity for a healthcare facility serving elderly and mobility-limited patients.
- Mechanical loft mezzanine: A dedicated mechanical loft mezzanine above the main floor houses building systems equipment, accessed via a 36"-wide, 70-degree steel ship ladder with railings and a 42"-wide floor opening — keeping mechanical infrastructure out of the clinical footprint.
- Contextual exterior architecture: The building's four-elevation exterior combines asphalt shingles, EIFS, brick and stone masonry veneers, precast watertable sill units, aluminum storefront windows, and fiber-cement board siding — delivering a traditional, neighborhood-compatible appearance appropriate to a community medical facility.
- Site access and road improvements: The project included coordination of a proposed realignment of Davis Road to accommodate the new building footprint and site access off Sawmill Drive, requiring close collaboration with local civil authorities.
